UAE Bans Citizens from Traveling to Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq Amid Regional War

Reflecto News | Breaking News | Middle East

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates has imposed an immediate travel ban on its citizens traveling to Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq, citing “current regional developments” as the two-month war between the US-Israeli alliance and Iran continues to destabilize the Middle East.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the ban late Thursday, April 30, 2026, and also called on all Emirati nationals currently present in these three countries to “leave immediately” and return to the UAE “at the earliest opportunity”.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces a travel ban for citizens of the United Arab Emirates to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Lebanese Republic and the Republic of Iraq in light of the current developments witnessed in the region.”

The affected nations are at the heart of the regional war that erupted on February 28, 2026, following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. The ban also comes as:

  • A fragile ceasefire between Iran, the US, and Israel has been in place since April 8, but peace talks in Islamabad remain stalled
  • A separate US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has been repeatedly violated, with Israeli airstrikes continuing in southern Lebanon
  • Iraq, which hosts both US troops and Iran-backed militias, was subject to frequent attacks until the ceasefire

🛡️ Precautionary Measures: Contact Numbers

The Ministry emphasized that the safety of its citizens abroad is the “top priority,” and urged all nationals in Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq to contact the official emergency line +97180044444 for assistance.

📜 Historical Precedent: 2021–2025 Lebanon Ban

This is not the first time the UAE has imposed such restrictions. The country previously banned its citizens from traveling to Lebanon between 2021 and 2025 due to political instability. That ban was lifted only last May. The current simultaneous ban on three countries reflects the unprecedented scale of the regional conflict.
