“FAKE NEWS”: Kremlin Dismisses Reports of Russian Drone Shipments to Iran

MOSCOW — The Kremlin has issued a sharp denial regarding reports that Russia is supplying advanced drone technology and satellite intelligence to help Iran target U.S. forces. On Thursday, March 26, 2026, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed a series of high-profile Western media reports as “lies” and “completely false information.”

The denial follows an investigation by the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal alleging that Moscow has transitioned from providing humanitarian aid to supplying lethal military hardware to its embattled ally.

The “Dialogue” vs. The “Delivery”

While Peskov acknowledged that Moscow maintains an active “dialogue” with Tehran, he was evasive regarding the specific nature of the shipments currently crossing the Caspian Sea.

  • The “Lies” Label: “There is so much information out there right now, the lion’s share of which is completely false,” Peskov stated. He specifically labeled the WSJ report on satellite imagery sharing as “fake news.”
  • Humanitarian Cover: Moscow officially maintains that its aid to Iran is strictly humanitarian. To date, Russia has confirmed sending over 13 tonnes of medicine via Azerbaijan, along with food and medical supplies to sustain “political stability” in Tehran.
  • The “Dialogue” Confirmation: Despite the denial of arms transfers, Peskov emphasized that “one thing is true — we are continuing our dialogue with the Iranian leadership.”

Western Intel: The “Geran-2” Connection

The Kremlin’s denial stands in direct contrast to reports from Western intelligence officials, who claim Russia is nearing the end of a “phased delivery” of attack drones.

The Red Line: S-400 Refusal

Despite the deepening cooperation, Moscow appears to be maintaining a strategic “ceiling” on its support to avoid a direct confrontation with the United States.

  1. S-400 Rejection: Reports indicate that Moscow has denied Iran’s request for the advanced S-400 air defense system, fearing it would require Russian crews on the ground and trigger an uncontrollable escalation with Washington.
  2. Verba Systems: Russia has reportedly moved forward with a December 2025 agreement to supply 500 Verba man-portable launchers and 2,500 missiles, which are considered “defensive” in nature.

What’s Next?

The Kremlin’s dismissal of these reports comes at a delicate moment for the Trump administration. If Russia is indeed providing “better drones” with improved anti-jamming capabilities, the U.S. and Israel may be forced to accelerate their “Final Blow” ground and air campaign before the new hardware can be integrated into the IRGC’s defenses.
